However, if you ARE truly interested in learning how The Craft of Photogrphy, then you need to understand that THIS IS A SERIOUS UNDERTAKING, REQUIRING TRUE COMMITMENT FROM YOU TO REALLY BENEFIT.
I CAN TEACH YOU BUT IT IS UP TO YOU TO LEARN. THAT MEANS YOU WILL NEED THE DESIRE TO LEARN AND TO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS NO EASY OR SIMPLE APPROACH TO THIS.
KNOWLEDGE IS THE CURRENCY OF THE WISE, AND ONLY AS VALUABLE AS THE EFFORT USED TO EARN IT.
ALSO: This workshop will deal with HOW TO USE YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA ONLY. THIS WILL NOT BE A PHOTOSHOP WORKSHOP. This is not about showing you how to "salvage" images resulting from sloppy or lazy camera work. It is about helping you learn how to make great photos BEFORE you ever put them on a computer.
Classes can vary in style and content, but all will be held in Beaver, Utah and the surrounding area. There will be Out-Door Field Trips where I will show you the techniques I have been showing you in the classes. There may also be excursions to various places, National & State Parks and the like, for those classes and workshops that need specific subject matter.
Getting to Know Your Camera will be the ONLY confirmed class at this point as it is the First Class. During that Class, I will evaluate the levels of skill that each participant has and customize the workshop to best fit their needs.
Other Class Topics will include but will not be limited to, Understanding & Using Lighting for Best Effect, On and Off Camera Flash Use, Photography as a Business, Nature & Landscape, Sports as well as People Photography just to name a few. The make-up of class participants and their various skill levels will govern the curriculum of the workshop.
You will receive assignments each month and you will have from one class until the next to complete it. You will be expected to have from 1 to 3 images ready for each class. You may bring them on a thumb-drive, laptop or tablet or as prints sized 5 X 7 or larger. They will be examined and critiqued by the other students in the class.
The class will be limited to between 6 and 10 people so that every one gets the chance to learn.
These classes will start promptly at 6:30 PM (or other specified time) and end promptly at 8:30PM (or other specified time) so you will want to be punctual to get your moneys worth.
These workshops will be offered as a six month block and must be paid up front before the first class begins. You WILL NOT be allowed to "pick and choose" what classes you want. This is going to be a learning "from the ground up" experience. Everything I will be teaching is important and will be needed as a foundation to support further learning and skill development.
Depending on the response received from this first workshop, I may add a second block of more advanced workshops. I may also offer this exact workshop for those who were unable to attend it earlier.
There will be NO babysitting offer during this class. There may be a time when I will have you bring a child for use as a model on one of the Outdoor Field trips but there will be no infants, toddlers or other children besides those who may reside in the place we will be having our workshops. There will be NO exceptions. We will only have two hours and distractions will cut in to everyone's time.
I will also be offering INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS & SPECIALIZED CLASSES that will be one, two or three meetings long for a total of between 12 & 15 hours of learning depending on the subject matter. For ALL the Specialized Classes AND ALL of the Workshops EXCEPT the Beginning Workshop, Participants will be vetted BEFORE participation. This means that a Prospective Participant will have to show that they are familiar with their camera and that they can product quality images on a level with the class or workshop they are wanting to take. This is because ADVANCED CLASSES WILL HAVE NO TIME TO TEACH BASIC PHOTO CRAFT.
